Warm greetings,
Today is a special day for our community, as we witness the reopening of the inn Zadružnik, which with its renovated look will continue to serve as a place for socializing, good taste, and genuine homey atmosphere.
On this occasion, I would like to personally and on behalf of the local community thank everyone who contributed to this project – owner Ivica with her family, the craftsmen, workers, and all who with dedication and effort made it possible for the inn to open its doors again in a new, even more beautiful form.
Inns have always been the heart of our communities – places where we meet, share stories, weave friendships, and preserve cultural heritage. I believe that the inn Zadružnik will continue to connect people and offer a warm meal to every guest.
For 50 years, the members, management, and all employees of the Agricultural Cooperative Solčava were deeply committed to a shared idea: TO BUILD THE COOPERATIVE HOUSE.
The Cooperative House with a shop, hall, and inn with rooms was built in 1957 and opened on July 21 of the same year. It was a day of joy and celebration for all the people of Solčava.
Even back then, people were especially happy about the inn in the Cooperative House, which operated for many years under the Upper Savinja Agricultural Cooperative Mozirje. In 2014, Ivica Poličnik took it under her wing, and together with her husband Peter, they bought the Cooperative House completely in 2019.
In August 2023, we were hit by devastating floods. Solčava was among the most affected areas. The Cooperative House suffered significant damage. Floodwaters flooded the ground floor, damaging infrastructure, electrical wiring, and interior furnishings. Furniture was destroyed, walls and floor coverings were damaged. The hospitality part of the house was unusable after the floods.
After the waters receded, a long process of cleaning and preparation for renovation followed. The renovation of the Cooperative House included drying the rooms, replacing damaged materials, walls, and floor coverings, and repairing electrical and plumbing installations. Sanitary facilities, the kitchen, and the bar area were fully restored.
During the renovation, we lost our host Peter – husband, father, grandfather, and we could say the soul of the inn. Zadružnik was not just a business to him; it was his second home. Today we stand here not only because of the renovated inn but also because of the man who, together with his wife Ivica, gave heart to this inn. His spirit will remain with us, within these walls, and in all the stories we will still tell.
The Poličnik family is grateful to all the people who, through their noble deeds, find their way to their fellow human beings. Selfless help, whether through donations or voluntary work, made it easier for us to cope with the situation. Donations helped with the renovation of the inn and contributed to greater stability during this crisis period. The care and solidarity of everyone was a great comfort and proof that we are not alone in times of hardship.
A sincere thank you to all the locals, relatives, friends from Solčava, Luče, Podvolovljek, and beyond. Thank you to the donors, thank you to the associations for the campaigns carried out, and to the companies for their help. Without you, our effort would have been much harder and less successful.
May the inn Zadružnik be a place for socializing over morning coffee, mid-morning snacks, afternoon culinary bites, and evening drinks.
Today is a time to warmly recall memories together, to light the lamp of gratitude, and to honor with song, words, and fellowship those who remain in our hearts.
We look forward to your company and hope to spend a wonderful afternoon together, full of warm thoughts and friendship.
Once again, thank you to everyone who believed in this story and contributed to its continuation. May today be the beginning of a new chapter – a chapter in which the inn Zadružnik will continue to be a place of community, connection, and beautiful moments.
Welcome back – home.
